COPPELL, Texas – McLaren Automotive Incorporated will recall certain of its high-performance sports cars to address a potential brake-system issue which could lead to loss of braking at one corner of the affected vehicles.

According to federal National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Part 573 Safety Recall Report 21V-561 the 19 affected cars, built between July and Dec. 2019, may have been assembled with banjo bolts lacking holes for hydraulic fluid to flow into the calipers.

The report stated, “If this is the case, there would be no hydraulic pressure to the calliper, and there would be no braking effect on the affected corner of the vehicle. Under those circumstances, the vehicle could pull to the left or the right, depending on which corner of the vehicle was affected.”

Fortunately, the effect of the problem could be lessened, “. If this is the case, there would be no hydraulic pressure to the calliper, and there would be no braking effect on the affected corner of the vehicle. Under those circumstances, the vehicle could pull to the left or the right, depending on which corner of the vehicle was affected.”

The remedy is replacing the defective banjo bolts with properly manufactured ones, which will be performed at no cost to the owners. There is no timetable set for the notification of the dealers or the owners.

The cars covered by the recall are: one model-year 2020 McLaren 570S; seven 2020 McLaren GT; one 2019 McLaren 600LT, and 10 2019-2020 McLaren 720S.
